Dwayne McDuffie on Race in Comics
by Joshua Malbin on Mar.18, 2011, under Comics
Saw this on BoingBoing today. Dwayne McDuffie, who just died less than a month ago, talks about how comic book readers perceive race. I don’t really read superhero comics like his, but I like what he has to say about them being important as hero fantasies. Also interesting to hear about the intersection of highly nerdly behavior with racism, since I think the comfortable assumption for nerds to make is that we’re somehow immune.
